The Village Inn has been blessed with many happy memories from engagements to weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. Our staff will go out of their way to cater to your needs and requests to ensure that your social occasion becomes a special memory.
The restaurant can accommodate up to 100 guests with two separate dining areas on the main floor, a mezzanine level and four private rooms for smaller groups on the second floor. For a more casual dining experience visit our lounge where you can relax and dine from our pub-style menu or our regular dinner menu.
To serve the burgeoning trade between Toronto and Barrie in the 1850’s a stagecoach station was built in Thornton to accommodate weary travelers. This station later became the Queen’s Hotel. In 1971, the Hiles family became the owners renaming it the Village Inn. In 2003, the Porter family became the new owners and updated the Victorian flare of past years to continue the tradition of great meals in an unmatched setting of antique furnishings from yesterday. Birthdays, anniversaries or a quiet romantic atmosphere will be shared with great people who want to make your evening one you will always remember. Years ago, I brought my wife Cathy here for her 18th birthday. A record of this visit as well as other visits is featured in past guest books dating back 30 years displayed in our lounge library. These guest books tell a great deal about the history of visits with lots of friends and relatives found. Take a look for your past visits and please help us keep this great tradition alive by signing our guest book located at the front entrance. If you have an interesting story that provides added information or insight to the history of The Village Inn, or a story that has made an impact in which The Village Inn has inspired, please write it down and send it along to us, we would love to read about it. Your story may be featured on a future menu. Thank-you, Mark Porter & Family “…Drinking good wine with good food in good company is one of life’s most civilized pleasures…” |
